1 Year of COVID: a week of Re-membering

  • When Mar 08, 2021 to Mar 11, 2021 (America/New_York / UTC-500)
  • Add event to calendar iCal

Thursday, March 11, 2021 will mark the one year anniversary since the declaration of the COVID global pandemic by the World Health Organization. What are you feeling after one year of living with this pandemic reality? What losses have you experienced? How can we support each other in the challenges of this time? David Whyte says that unless we are willing to enter the well of grief, we will never find “in the darkness glimmering, the small round coins, thrown by those who wished for something else.” Instead of avoiding our difficult feelings, let’s support each other to enter the well of grief and find the small round coins of deeper meaning, purpose and direction. Let’s take this week to reflect and remember, to be together in our challenges, and to connect to our innate capacity to heal.

Mindful Mornings: Monday, March 8 at 9:00-9:20am

Begin your week with a guided mindfulness practice and a check-in on your intentions. Build a strong and grounded start to your day in the company of others. We begin with a quote, then a guided meditation, followed by an option to post a short response to a check in question.

Creativity Circle: Monday, March 8 at 12:30-1:20pm

What is your Pandemic Image? Others in Open Circle have said that it feels like flying a plane while building it, listening to a song where the notes are just slightly off-beat, or like a bird ready to leave the nest but suddenly halted. Join us to share experiences of this strange year by creating your own image to express it, acknowledging the losses you have experienced, and listening to your losses for what really matters to you. Let this process be a chance to connect with your inner child. Bring any of the following with you: your art journal, paper, pen or pencil, and any markers, pencil crayons, paints, or pastels that you have. No perceived artistic experience or skill needed!

Meditation CircleWednesday, March 10 at 1:30-2:20pm

Facing into Fear, Loss, and Healing: Experience a guided imagery meditation on themes of fear, sadness, and healing. We’ll start with relaxation and deep breathing and then explore imagery that puts us in touch with a loss or fear in our life. After acknowledging and facing into difficult emotions, we will visualize opening to healing light and love. No experience needed!

Body Mind Spirit Circle: Thursday, March 11 at 3:30-4:20pm

Remembering your Resilience: Through guided reflection and visualization, notice what you have lost during this COVID time and share your experiences in a safe environment. Together we’ll explore our innate resources and tools for resilience that support our natural need to grieve. This is a supportive space for reflecting and sharing about our journeys and questions in an atmosphere of respect and openness.

Weekend Wind Down: Friday, March 11 at 5:30-5:50pm

Ease into the end of week with a mindfulness practice and a short check-in on how your intentions were lived out during the week. Reset with the support of others as you enter your weekend. We begin with a quote, then a guided meditation, followed by an option to post a short response to a check in question.
