Embracing Authenticity Retreat

Friday, September 22, 3:30-8:30pm, MUSC 220

Join us for a drop-in retreat on campus, participating in any of five activities that focus around discovering and embracing your authentic self. The retreat will run from 3:30 to 8:30PM and each hour will be dedicated to a separate activity, so feel free to drop in at any time! Some themes include analyzing the self critic and their function, compassion for the self and what authenticity means to you. We will be exploring these themes in a number of ways from creative practices to meditations.

Schedule

  • 3:30 - What does the "perfect" person look like? Where do these ideas come from?
  • 4:30 - What does authenticity mean? Exploring the authentic self via collaging
  • 5:30 - Guided meditation focused on the self-critic
  • 6:30 - Watercolour painting and tuning out the self-critic
  • 7:30 - Compassion meditation

This retreat is available to full-time McMaster undergraduate and graduate students.
