Community Volunteer Circles

A network of weekly volunteering groups for students:

  • Serve with other McMaster students at placements across Hamilton
  • Learn about and help address inner-city issues
  • Discuss your volunteer experiences
  • Make a significant difference where it is needed
  • Gain valuable experience

Each week your group facilitator helps you find your way to the placement and also facilitates discussion of your volunteer experiences for 20-30 min. at the end of your service experience.

How Do I Volunteer?

Volunteer Fairs

Join a volunteer group at one of our Volunteer Registration Fairs:

  • Monday, September 11, 5:30-7pm
  • Wednesday, September 13, 5:30-7pm

Your next steps before attending the fair

  1. Register by completing the Registration Form (new window)
  2. Fill out the CVC Volunteer Application Form before attending the CVC Volunteer Fairs. Completing this form before the fair is the mandatory first step to join a CVC weekly volunteer group and must be completed before attending the fair. Please note: submitting this form DOES NOT confirm your spot in a volunteer group (you must also attend the volunteer fair and go through the volunteer recruitment process to confirm your spot in a volunteer group).
  3. Register on the Open Circle Club Membership Form
  4. Download the CVC Volunteer Contract, print it, sign it, and bring it with you to the fair. You will be required to submit your signed contract when you join a volunteer group at the fair.
  5. Bring your schedule and information about a recent police check (if you have one) to the fair.
  6. View the list of Volunteer Placements and Times and decide which ones fit your schedule. Decide your top 3 choices that fit your schedule before attending the fair.
  7. Visit the fair on Sept. 11 or Sept. 13 between 5:30 and 7pm. At the fair, you will have the opportunity to indicate your top 3 group choices and talk with the facilitators of the placements you’re interested in.
